"Why did you decide to shoot a film like Hercules?"
"Golan the producer was a big fan of the movie he saw when he was
young, Lou Ferrigno wanted to become the new Steve Reeves, so the film
was born. At the beginning it was to be directed by Bruno Mattei but then
his screenplay didn't convince the producer, it wasn't good for the American
market, so I started to write a new Hercules story. I proposed a sort of
superman mixed with the clash of the titans and it was interesting for
the producers. Hercules was one of few Italian movies to entering the hit
parade of Variety. So we decided to shoot the sequel, but we had utilized
the remains of the first and some scenes from 7 Magnifici Gladiatori by
Bruno Mattei. It was a very very low budget, the place where we shot was
Gaeta (a little island near Naples)."

gesagt, da fliegt jetzt ein Strahl auf Dich zu, Du machst Ouh!... Was dann
reingezeichnet wurde, war... nicht berauschend! Wir durften lange Dialoge
erfinden oder umschreiben."
"Ich gehe gleich morgen in die Videothek. Ein kluger Mann hat
einmal gesagt: Ein Schauspieler kann nicht als wahrhaft groß bezeichnet
werden, wenn er nicht wenigstens einmal in einem Barbarenfilm mitgespielt
hat..."
